*NEW* Make Your Own Dress

Here’s your chance to make your own custom dress! During the 1st class you will draft a pattern for a simple shift dress. In the following 3 sessions you will sew the dress & learn new skills including zippers, hems, bias facings and more. You must bring your own machine and have (at least) beginner-level sewing skills.

Supplies:

For the pattern:

At least 3 sheets of 18 x 24″ paper, or a roll at least 12″ wide (newsprint or drawing paper)

Pencil, sharpener, eraser

See-through 18″ ruler

Tape measure

Scissors (for cutting paper)

Clear tape

For the muslin and dress:

2-3 yards medium-weight cotton or other woven fabric (fabric can be purchased after 1st session when pattern is made to confirm yardage)

2 yards muslin

Thread to match dress fabric

12″ or longer invisible zipper to match

Invisible zipper foot for your machine

1 package single-fold bias tape to match (1/2″ wide)

Basic sewing kit: scissors, pins & cushion, tape measure, seam ripper, tailor’s chalk
